Contemplation

Fifth Stage of Journey; Thinking.

Farsi & Arabic: Tafakkor

Chapter of Kahf, verse 65 of Quruan:

تا بنده‏ اى از بندگان ما را يافتند كه از جانب خود به او رحمتى عطا كرده و از نزد خود بدو دانشى آموخته بوديم

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِنْ لَدُنَّا عِلْمًا

English Translation:  “Then they found one from among Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us and whom We had taught knowledge from Ourselves.”

Contemplation/Thinking strengthen the inner eyes

A strong vision in spirit enables man to recognize his ego (In Farsi: Nafs). He becomes aware of egos power and its way of driving him. As a result he can distinguish between right and wrong.

This attention of thoughts empowers mind to quench the thirst while observing the contaminated water to stay away from. (This is a journey, and clear water is the basics of survival. One way to recognize a clean water is to detect contaminated water and avoiding it).

This cognitive power leads to spiritual vision, all under God’s mercy. It is a way to search and perceive what one desires. Three ways of utilizing this power:

  1. Contemplation on God’s essence which doesn’t help one in pursuit.
  2. Contemplation on creation elegancy.
  3. Contemplation on God’s blessings.
